Cherries

quilts 403

These cherries were machine appliqued on and the quilt was quilted by hand. Love that machine buttonhole stitch.

Replica Feedsack Fabrics

Sweet little quilt.

Cotton and wool applique wallhanging

The scallops, vine and flowers are wool and buttonhole stitched on.  Love this quilt and I had a friend machine quilt this.

Hearts Doll Quilt

While a little granddaughter was visiting, we decided to make a doll quilt.  I drew up hearts and put “wonder under” under the hearts, ironed them on and then machine buttonhole stitched with embroidery thread around the hearts.

Friends

Friends 1

This little Friends quilt was a good way to use up some of my “scrap” fabrics.

My Mom Taught Me How To Sew

A few years ago this quilt was designed by my daughter for me for Mother’s day.  What a treasure and fun surprise.

Shan & Mom

This was my daughter’s first attempt at hand applique without having had any lessons.  Love the flowers she designed for my quilt garden.

Her embroidered phrase is:  “My mom loves me, know how I know?  Because she taught me how to sew!”  It was a great compliment for something I have always loved to do – sew.

Alex’s Quilt

This little quilt is simple and made from charm packs.  I quilted it on the machine with a double circle pattern.

Chicken Quilt

109

My daughter picked out the fabrics for these chickens.  I used Wonder Under to iron the chickens to the background and used machine blanket stitches around the edges.  My daughter finished quilting by using meandering stitches on her sewing machine (her first attempt at machine quilting.)

First Quilt

When my daughter was a teenager she bought tickets for my husband and I to see the Everly Brothers in concert. I had already signed up for a quilt class and my daughter offered to take the class for me.  (I was so hoping she would enjoy quilting as much as I did.)

She pieced the quilt and I did the hand quilting for her.  This was the beginning of her love of quilting.

Pansies

DSCN0711

This quilt is called Pansies and since I love my gardens, I was immediately attracted to the name and colorful fabrics.  The background fabric is a French toile.  This is a guest bedroom that the grandchildren love to stay in when they come to visit.

Patriotic Quilts

These two quilts were made for my first two grandchildren, twin girls.  They were even hand quilted (now I machine quilt).

These quilts were made 13 years ago.  The second one on the right does not have yellow fabric, it is a cream fabric but for some reason does not show up very well in this picture.  The twins hang these on their inside balcony during the July holiday.

Berry Sweet Bag

I have always loved everything about strawberries, flavor, color, etc.  I found this cute strawberry bag pattern by Fig Tree Quilts and had to make it for one of my little granddaughters.

The fabric is delicious – I have a red strawberry fabric to try on the next bag.  The inside is a yellow print fabric and I put decorations on the leaves of my first bag with   buttons and scrapbooking brads.  The outside fabric was first quilted with a meandering stitch.  Now to make one for each of the other nine granddaughters.

Raggedy Ann Embroidered Quilt

DSC_0185

This was a fun little quilt to make.  I have always liked Raggedy Ann and I have made several Raggedy Ann dolls.  I have also enjoyed embroidery work. When I came across this pattern I thought about my little red headed granddaughter and knew she would love it.  I  hand quilted primitive stitches on the embroidered month blocks  and machine quilted on the block sashings.
